What are 7 Things to do in New York this Summer that will not cost you a fortune to enjoy?

Omg! The summer is here and it's a fantastic time to have some fun in the sun before it's all gone!

Known as the most expensive city in the world, you'd think you have to break the bank to afford a bit of fun in New York City but that's not true.

NYC has a lot of fun things to do that will not cost you a fortune to enjoy, here are 7 of them:

Rooftop Bus Tour

A Rooftop bus tour is an exciting way to see New York City.

Tour buses take you on sites uptown or downtown NYC for a two-hour ride without getting off the bus.

At different points along the route, you can get off and enjoy the sights then catch another bus to continue your tour.

Just remember you are in the open and will be at the mercy at the sun so it might be a good thing to wear lots of sunscreen and /or visor hat with sunglasses to shade your eyes and face from the sun.

There are also night tours of the city available if you prefer the nightlife to blazing sun.

The cost of night vs day tours varies and can cost anywhere from $59 to $119. Visit their site here.

Of course, you can find deals and specials on third party sites like Groupon.

Mini Golf

Mini golf is competitive and fun hands down!

Even if you don't love golf, playing a round of mini golf will get you jumping up and down and bawling fore!

Okay, just joking.

One of the best mini golf centers I've been to is Spring Rock Golf Center.

Sunset Salsa

Put on your dancing shoes and Salsa under the stars at Pier 76 every Thursday until August 15th, 2024.

Salsa along the scenic Hudson River Park is fun, exciting and refreshing.

You don't need a dance partner to get into the swing of things, just say yes to anyone who asks, even if you have two left foot and a hip that stays rigid rather than sway rhythmically to the beat of the music.

Luckily, Talia Castro-Pozo gives free beginner lessons to get you ready to start strutting your stuff at 6:30 -7:15.

Open dance 7:15 to 9:00

Admission: Free

Roller Skating

Roller skating at United Skates of America in Massapequa is something worth doing.

Though technically not in New York City, it is worth every minute you spend rolling around the rink to funky house music that is energizing.

Admission is $15. Skate rental is $7

Picnic in the Park

Gather your friends and family for a picnic in any New York City Park.

They are free and there are lots of things you can do there.

Parks like Astoria Park have free swimming pools, sprinklers, tracks, bike lanes, dog runs and Bocce lanes.

The old Hell Gate bridge cast a beautiful scenic view over the Hudson River

Check the nyc.org website for a park that best suit your needs.

Central Park

Nothing beats spending some time in the outdoors.

And what better place to spend it in than Central Park with its 834 acres of lush greenery, bike paths, walkways, ponds, restaurants, zoo and gardens.

There are so many things to do there that to visit requires a full day.

There's biking, carriage rides, boating, summer concerts and a whole lot more.

Check out the park's website here.

Queens Museum

Queens Musuem off the Grand Central Parkway next to La Guardia Airport and the famed Flushing Medows Corona Park, Arthur Ashe stadium is worth the time and energy it takes to stop by.

While many exhibits come and go, the one permanent exhibit that is awe inspiring is the miniature display of the five boroughs of New York City.

Though it's not update with the new Freedom Towers, it's still an awesome sight.

You will be blown away!

To get around the display you will walk on glass, if you are queasy, don't look down, look straight ahead.

Though all museums have a suggest admission of $8.00, NYC museums are free but do give a donation.
